My Winter BookHiBearNation TBR

My Winter BookHiBearNation TBR

It’s time for another BookHibearNation! Hosted by Simon Savidge and TomReadsThings, I love BookHibearNations as they are just so cosy and lovely - even more so in the winter time!

I’m very much a mood reader, so don’t know how strictly I’ll stick to these, but here’s what I’ve assembled for a loose TBR for the week. And as per my bookish resolution for the year, these are all from my TBR stacks that I didn’t get to in 2020. Eeek.

You can find out more about Winter BookHiBearNation here.

Basic Bear Prompts

A book with an alliterative title

The Ship of Shadows by Maria Kuzniar. I was gifted this MG title last year and was desperate to read it then, and so now seems the perfect time to retrieve it from the TBR stacks! I’m also hoping a little adventurous MG book will be a great choice to read in the evenings after work.

A book with an icy blue cover (or part of its cover)

A Snowfall of Silver by Laura Wood. This is pretty high on my TBR for 2021 anyway, and it is the most gorgeous blue cover! I’m hoping this will be just as escapist and gorgeous a read as all of Laura Wood’s other books!

A book with a feather on the cover

Slight problem here, as I have no books on my TBR stacks that have a feather on. So I’m substituting feather for petals/leaves, as I seem to have lots of TBR books with plants and leaves and flowers on. I think I’ll probably read Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas for this one, which is the prequel to The Hate U Give.

A backlist book of an author you’ve read before and want to go back to / New Year means read an author you’ve never read before.

Again, mood reader here, so keeping my TBR options open here! A book by an author I’ve read before that I’d like to get to is Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend. It’s the third book in the delightful Nevermoor series, and I’ve been looking forward to setting aside a proper amount of time to read it in for a while. However, if I fancy a new author, I think I’ll go for Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron. It’s the first in a West African fantasy series about the descendant of witch doctors trying to find her power.

Daddy Bear Prompts

Read Bellman & Black by Diane Setterfield (covers all the basic prompts)

I’m not going to complete this prompt, as I’m not letting myself buy any books in 2021 that aren’t on my pre-orders list!

Read a book with winter/snow/ice in the title

Definitely calling double on this one and also slotting A Snowfall of Silver by Laura Wood in to here!

Read a wintery poem

I have very few poetry collections in the house, but I’m also teaching poetry at the moment so maybe this will inspire me to find a good wintry poem to teach!

So here it is: my final TBR for Winter BookHibearnation!

Are you taking part in Winter BookHibearNation? What’s on your TBRs for this week?
