My Auto-Buy Authors

This week, Top Ten Tuesday celebrates turning 10, and so I chose an old prompt from the archives to do this week - authors I always pre-order books from! These are my real faves, and authors I know I can depend on for a really great read.

It's Independent Bookshop Week!

Happy Independent Bookshop Week! This is one of my favourite weeks of the year, where usually I’d make a point of getting to as many of my favourite indie bookshops as possible. But given the current situation, I thought instead I’d highlight some of my favourite indie bookshops, and encourage you to all order from your indie where you can!

Books On My Summer 2020 TBR

This is actually really early for me to set myself a summer 2020 TBR! Usually I sit down in the first week of the summer holidays, set myself a stack for the summer, and off I go. So I suppose this TBR is a list of the books that will tide me over until the summer break…

Let's Chat... MG in to YA Fantasy Fiction.

Hello! So I was thinking about quite a few different bookish things the other day, and figured that rather than writing twitter threads at 11pm when I can’t always trust my brain and my typing to match up, I’d try writing an actual blog post every time I think about something that I can’t fit in to a tweet.

So get yourself a cuppa, and let’s get chatting!

Recommend Some LGBT+ Books

This week on Six For Sunday we’ve been given the challenge of recommending some LGBT+ books! My only problem is fitting all my recommendations in to one post… So I’ve gone with the six queer stories that I’ve enjoyed the most / return to most frequently (so far!).

Books That Give Off Summer Vibes

This week for Top Ten Tuesday we’re looking at books that give off all the summer vibes! I’ve chosen books that make me think of summer, books I’ve read in summer… there’s a whole load of summer ahead, people.

My Favourite Series

This week’s Six For Sunday sees us chatting about our favourite series - which is great for me, because I can never pick an individual book, and can’t ever narrow it down to more than a series. So, here are my all-time faves!

#MakeYourMythTaker Readathon!

I cannot resist a good readathon, and when I saw Ashleigh’s video (and my twitter feed) getting excited over #MakeYourMythTaker, I thought I needed to give it a go! I love fantasy as a genre anyway, as well as myths and retellings - my WIP is a myth/legend retelling! - so I’m excited to read the books I’ve chosen, as well as getting loads of recommendations from everyone else who’s participating throughout the month!

April Reading Wrap Up!

I read a LOT in April, and not just because of Kate’s fab Easter Readathon! I also tried to read a little outside of my comfort zone (read: I tried adult books. WHAT.) and the results were actually quite surprising! Including - spoilers - possibly my book of the year. It’s been a wild ride…

Happy Birthday, Mr Shakespeare!

Yes, I am that person who is sat here writing a post about all things Shakes for his birthday. Did you expect ANYTHING else?!

So for today’s post, I thought I’d go with my reasons that everyone should be able to find something to enjoy in the works of Shakespeare!

It's the Easter Readathon!

I was so excited when I heard that Kate was doing #EasterReadathon again! So, as per usual, here’s my wildly overambitious list of books I’m planning on reading over the long weekend…

#SixForSunday: Books That Have Been On My TBR Forever

I didn’t have a blog post scheduled for today, but then I saw the wonderful Steph’s Six For Sunday and… well, let’s just say I started counting all the books I own but haven’t yet read the other day, and I stopped counting when I got north of fifty. Oops.

So, here are five of the books that have been waiting on my TBR for the longest!

Readathon: Book HiBEARnation

BOOKS

What’s this? I’m blogging again? Well, I suppose there’s nothing like a pandemic to give you time and space to do all the things life has somewhat got in the way of in the meantime!

The reason I decided to crack out my keyboard and get blogging is because I’m really looking forwards to joining in with…

Review: The Taming of the Shrew (RSC)

Going in to this screening of the RSC’s current production of The Taming of the Shrew, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew the general gist of the plot - although that’s like saying you know Hamlet because ‘it’s the one with the skull’. Thankfully some friends had begun my Shrew education with 10 Things I Hate About You in the not-so-distant past, so I wasn’t going in entirely blind.

For those of you who might not know…
